We discovered the Summer Swaddleme mid September, and PRAISE THE LORD for this product! His sleep drastically improved. Here is the one we used (this is not Caden by the way...just an internet image: ):
Caden has never liked sleeping on his back and when he first came home from the hospital, he would sleep in a sleepsack on his side in a sleep positioner. Then a girl I work with let me borrow her Fisher Price Rock n play sleeper. He slept in it one night and Jared was ready to buy one. So we did! I highly recommend it for babies that hate being on their backs or have reflux. It puts them in a reclined upright position and it is great to take on vacation. This was one of our checked bags when we went to VA for Christmas!
So for the past couple months, the swaddleme + the rock n play = 8+ hours of uninterrupted sleep. Until the past week or so. I have been waking up at 4 or 5 to a mad baby who has, in his swaddle (no hands mom!) flipped himself on his side, plus some, to where a couple times he has almost been on his face in the rock n play. I would reposition him, put the pacifier in and sometimes he would go back to sleep, other times not so much. So we decided last night that we would say so long to the swaddle. It was time. I was scared, but we have a 3 day weekend and it would be a good weekend to give it a shot.
For those of you that have been to our house, you know that our master bedroom is downstairs and our other 3 bedrooms are upstairs. Caden's room is waaaayyyyy upstairs and on the front of our house. I have been putting him in his crib for naps but I get to check on him every 15-20 minutes, plus he naps on his belly so that makes me nervous.
Anyways, so I wasn't quite ready to put him all the way up there, so we busted out the pack n play and set it up in the living room. We are taking gradual steps here people! So I put Caden in jammies and fed him in our room as usual. He wasn't asleep, but I put him on his tummy in his pack n play in the living room and went in our room. He talked to himself for about 10 minutes and Jared went to check on him, giving me the thumbs up that he was sound asleep.
I figured he would be up in 2-3 hours because this is about how long he naps unswaddled. I woke up at 2 (he fell asleep around 10:30)and checked on him. Still asleep! Woke up at 5....still asleep. And heard a little complaining at 7:09. He slept all night unswaddled! Now if I can just get over it and put him in his crib! Baby steps, baby steps!
