We're going to SWITZERLAND!

Hello Friends!  I obviously have been slacking on blogging, but I know a couple of you have requested that I blog during our trip to Switzerland.  In the past I have blogged on all of our big trips, so that our family and friends could see pictures and such as we traveled.  I totally forgot about that until someone mentioned it on Facebook.  I am going to do my best, though we aren't completely sure about the availability of internet access in some of the places we are staying.

I have had several people ask "Why Switzerland?"....Well we really wanted to take a trip together before we have another child (no I'm not pregnant....yet!) and we also will celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary this fall.  Jared really wanted to go to New Zealand, but that flight is rediculously long, so over a year ago we were watching some documentary on the Travel Channel or Nat Geo or something, and they were talking about Switzerland, and I was like "Why don't we go there!  It's closer, and it has mountains!"  Those who know us well know that we don't travel to anywhere unless there are mountains involved, so the Swiss Alps it is! 

We booked our flight and all of our hotels back in September,  thank goodness, because everything is super $$$$$$ over there and has gotten even more pricey since we booked.  We will be leaving here and driving to Miami, because it was several hundred dollars less per ticket to fly out of Miami.  We will fly through the night and arrive in Zurich, CH (abbreviation for Switzerland), and will have lost 6 hours.  So it will feel like 3 or 4 AM to us, but will be 9 or 10 AM.  We hope to check into our hotel and do some napping before doing a little sightseeing that evening. From there, here is what our itinerary looks like (I'm including pictures from the Web, but when we get there I will be posting our own!):

Day 2: Drive to Interlaken, CH

Day 3: Hiking day near Kandersteg, CH

Day 4: Hiking day near Lauterbrunnen, CH

Day 5: Hiking day and Zip Line near Grindelwald, CH

Day 6: Touring day in the town of Zermatt

Day 7: Driving day to Faido, CH

Day 8: Hiking in the Valle Verzasca near Lavertezzo

Day 9: Drive to Lake Como, Italy

Day 10: Touring around Lake Como, Italy
Day 11: 5 hour drive back to Zurich, CH
Day 12: Flight leaves Zurich back to US

So those are all of the places we will be going!  I am excited but a little sad to be leaving Caden for 12 days!  It will be a good time for Jared and I though!  We will be eating some chocolate and cheese in no time!  Like I said, I will do my best to post pictures as we go, dependent upon internet access!
